The title was put in just to make you think of my voice and smile!

In order to become a Reiki practitioner, Reiki is transferred from Reiki master to student during an attunement process. The attunement process is all about opening up the crown, heart and palm chakras (energy centers within the human body) and this creates a unique connection between the student and teacher. The attunement process is about being able to transfer reiki healing from practitioner to client and also works on clearing energy blockages in the student. Once attuned, the Reiki never wears off- it is for life.

So how does it feel? When I was being attuned, I had tingling sensations all throughout my body and felt heat through my hands but everyone can feel and experience different things.

There are 3 to 4 levels of Reiki practice (the number of levels depends on who your teacher (Guru) is.

Level 1

Level 1 teaches about the basics of Reiki, including the history of Reiki, the placement of hands on you and others, the practice of self-Reiki and how to use Reiki.

This process encourages the student to develop consistencies in being able to use Reiki to work through one’s own personal hardships as well as connecting to the student’s own energy channels. This level is about moving any energy that has become stagnant and allows the student to begin the healing process and conduct spiritual detoxification.

Level 1 can be quite exhausting because it can throw up things that you may not want to talk about or think about but, it is necessary for the healing process.

Level 1 also involves the student to complete self-practice for at least 21 days to enable the student to ground themselves in Reiki practice. It is also focussed on self-healing and give Reiki healing to friends and family.

Level 2

Level 2 is about opening up the chakras or energy channels, including how to use Reiki symbols. In this level we learn about the symbols which are associated with different frequencies and how to use them during a healing session.

These symbols help to connect more deeply to the energy and life force we have everywhere.

On Level 2 we also learn how to channel Reiki beyond time and space- so we learn about distance reiki and being able to give healing no matter where you are in the world.

Distance Reiki is still not a very well known concept but just as powerful.

After completing Level 2, the students are able to give healing treatments to clients. I have trained to Level 2.

Level 3

Level 3 (and also usually the Master Level) tend to happen at the same time. To be at the Reiki Master Level, one must have received the master attunement. There are different symbols attached to the Reiki Master level. During this level, the student learns how to give attunements and how to teach reiki – so they are able to demonstrate how and have the ability to pass on Reiki to others.

Anyone who has completed Level 3 but not taught a class stays at level 3.

For me, I believe that once you reach Level 2, one needs time to practice. Being committed to the practice is so important.

This level has been been a learning curve for me, to understand how I personally connect using Reiki’s healing abilities and how the energy s channelled through me is really exquisite.

Learning to appreciate the healing technique is really important and I also believe meditating on the path chosen absorbing how you use Reiki on yourself and others and spending time to find your Reiki master and all aspects that need to be considered when taking the step from level 2 to 3.

I have performed Reiki on lots of clients and family and have seen massive improvements on the energy and restfulness in those people. My Reiki journey will continue, and I see it as a gift that I sharing with so many other people to help in their healing journey.
